Valentine Fun

Last night I decided to upload this adorable photo of Lola in celebration of Valentine's Day. I mean, what doesn't say love like a fuzzy bunny hiding in a pink house? :) I think it will make a cute Valentine's Day card... I may have to send out a few myself!

Speaking of adorable, cute cards, I had to purchase these two owls from Lolo + Sprout. It looks like they're selling pretty well!

I joined Etsy For Animals!

I'm happy to announce that I joined Etsy for Animals: Artists Helping Animals. Each member in this street team/group donates a portion of his/her proceeds to animal causes. There's also an opportunity to donate items where 100% of the proceeds go to the animal charity of choice for the month.

If you've been to my store in the last few days, you've probably seen that I now donate 20% of the sale (before shipping) to 3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue. This rescue group works hard to place rabbits in good, forever homes. Their site is also a great informative tool for those new to bunnies.

Slow and Steady...

That's how my current crochet project is going. And even though I realize I'm still a beginner, I do get frustrated when I have trouble understanding the abbreviated directions. But so far, I think I'm on the right path. I just started Row 5 of six rows... and I have to do that until the entire project gets to be about 48 inches wide...

What am I making? I'm really trying not to come out and say it, in case my friend checks this blog. I wouldn't want to tip her off before the "big" day. But it's incredibly soft to work with and reminds me of a toy I had when I was a little girl. It was a fabric rabbit that I would bring with me on all my travels. When I touch this fabric, I feel the same softness that would comfort me when I was small.

Busy Sunday!

Coming off a busy work/school week should have left me exhausted-- but all I could think about doing was beginning work on my new projects. After another trip to the craft store to get last minute items, I was on my way. I started 25 scrabble pendants and completed three sun catchers. Here's a sneak peak of the sun catchers:

I designed them to hang off the review mirror in cars. Or to hang in windows to add some rainbows to the room. :)

In other news, a very talented artist by the name of Melyssa finished a portrait of Lola for me. It should be here this week. I'm very excited to see it. I fell in love with the style of Melyssa's paintings when I found her Bunny Love ACEO on Etsy (see below).

Lola's portrait is in a similar fashion-- can't wait to see it in person!

So you must check her out at Ninnerfish.etsy.com (and my blogroll links to her blog too).

Upcoming Projects

I officially began sorting out the supplies need to make pendents out of Scrabble tiles last night. Lauren is already way ahead of the game--she ordered her supplies a week-- maybe a week and a half ago-- and has already created 50 pendants to date. (She and I split the cost to learn how to make the pendants, which reminds me that I still owe her money for that!)

I, on the other hand, am behind. But on Saturday I wandered into Kate's Paperie store in Greenwich. (I was on a field trip with my pastry class to check out the Versailles bakery there. After having chocolate mousse and other sinful creations for breakfast, we were released onto the streets to explore the shops.) So there I am, in this huge store, with an unlimited supply of scrapbook and paper materials at hand. I set my mind on finding the perfect paper for my first pendants: One large sheet of oriental-looking bunnies on blue, and another large sheet of japanese maples. Last night I ordered my Scrabble tiles to work with, and today at lunch I'm making a trip to the craft store to buy the rest of the supplies.

In other exciting news, my next project, involving suncatchers with crystals and ornate beads, is almost underway. I found out they can also be called prayer beads, but I mainly had in mind creating crystal beauties to hang from rearview mirrors in cars (or high up in windows to sprinkle the room with rainbow prisms).

And of course, I'll be buying more yarn today for a top-secret project for one of my friends.

So I have at least three major projects very close to beginning. This is the only time I'll say it's good that it's cold outside, because I'm not tempted to run outside and photograph anything right now.

... At least not when it's 15 degrees out...

Little Etsy Moment

I actually saw one of my photos show up under the Recently Listed Items tab today! (See the owl at the lower left hand corner.) I know this isn't too big of a deal, but it was awesome to see it flip by.

I made many delicious things last night in pastry class... eclairs, whipped cream-filled swans and more. I tried to take photos last night when I returned home at midnight, but I haven't had a chance to look at them yet. The lighting in the dining room was being fickle and so was my flash. So I'm keeping my fingers cross that I'll have a nice one to post!

Scarf in progress

Here's a sneak peak at my next scarf. I originally started this one first when I was learning to crochet. Then I took a break to make a nice soft blue one for Sara's birthday/Christmas present. I think I'm going to go at least one or two more rows to make it wider. Then it should be done. The stitching is really tight-- it's taking forever! But it feels so good to accomplish something like this, especially since I only learned about it not too long ago!

My coworkers think it's perfect for Valentine's Day. When I look at it, I still see candy canes.
